Windex?!

Today's execursion (YS Falls and Appleton Rum Estate) was cut short after we got discouraged by a hustler to drive further to the next town on our ittinerary. According to him someone had just been killed by a car there which enraged the population to the point of pelting passing cars with rocks and brandishing mashetes. So goes the story anyway. His suggestion was for us to avoid passing through that town, since it was the only road leading to our original destination, and to visit a village near by instead. Scare tactics on his part? Guess we'll never know but the alternative gave us an inside look of Jamaica that others don't see by staying fenced in the resorts. The Jamaicans do take offense to foreigners not mingling with the populace. I have to say it does suck.

We followed our new guide on his motorcycle to this filtration plant at the foot of a mountain. Little did we know we'd end up swimming in this beautiful natural blue water hole in the middle of nowhere. The water was turquoise and +380ft deep!! No Photoshop here thank you very much.


This little clip hopefully does a good job at capturing the atmosphere then.

Some major picture was filmed there featuring Brooke Shields. Don't believe it was Blue Lagoon though. Can someone find out for us? Also perhaps somebody can explain all these empty bottles of Windex we found in a pile behind a bush. Hmmmm....

Of course our trip would not have been complete without our guide showing us some of his favorite plants. I think I'll dedicate that one to Kevin. :p


And no we didn't inhale or puff on anything. That stuff permeates the air everywhere you go so no need. Just open your nostrils wide!

Sadly, we had to end our little side adventure and return to our hotel with a little bit of reggae while walking back to our car. Yeah mon!
