The left side is the right side.

"The left side is the right side.
The right side is suicide."

Yeah man (pronounced mon) very fitting expression when we saw all these lights headind towards us on a one way street late at night downtown Mogadishu, errr... I mean Montego Bay.

You could say things were a bit chaotic, to say the least, to find our hotel armed with a very rudimentary map from the hotels website. What they failed to tell us is that a lot of the streets had been converted to one way streets. We just had to find the hard way and make sure to turn the wipers on to warn other drivers each time we took a turn. Everything is switched on the steering column! Thank god they didn't do the same with the pedals.

After traversing some pretty shady neighborhoods, and taking a few wrong turns along the way, we finally ended up at our deserted hotel with a sparkling windshield. But I think somebody forgot we were coming that day. All we could ear was the myriads of insects chanting away. But that in itself was soothing on this warm and rather humid evening. It finaly felt like we were starting our vacation.

Our thoughts were that we'd end up sleeping in the car until we found the groundkeeper who lead us to our room.

Lights out...

  3. Dude if we had a GPS then we would have never seen the colorful downtown at night. Quite an experience my friend. Imagine East Palo Alto at night x100. In the end we loved it!
